Yrs on the Torch: 15ish years of lampworking
My Glass Journey:
Started melting at āThe Glass Hausā in New Braunfels, TX, with Jon Lee, Jake Harper and Kevin Ivey, in 2002, we sold crystals, longboard skates, roots 45s, and herb pipes. In 2007 I had a baby girl named olive and got serious, making prodo pipes for Ivi and helping him build Austin flame works, while teaching beginners and taking as many classes that I could. Too many to name, but all bad ass mfs, and working for SALT making components to pay the bills. I had a couple boys named Oakland and Oxley, and turned it up again, working at St. Elmoās fire, with a solid crew of Crushers.I have been lucky enough to meet and collaborate with some of the best glass artists in the world, and I try to keep learning at every corner, still taking classes as much as I can. Made it to Corning this year to assist Joe P in his week long intensive class, it was amazing! Now I work at Grav Studio in Austin, TX raising kids and hustling glass pipes.
Shoutouts to:
Big ups to all the crushers who help me push myself to be a better artist and person, all love!

Name: BoOTs! (Gina Gaffner)

Yrs on the Torch: 11 Years on the torch
My Glass Journey:
I started my adventures with glass in a small a studio I built with friends in Austin, Texas and have been experimenting with glass ever since. I am mostly self taught with the exception of some community guidance. I fell into the fruit and veggie world when I decide to make a carrot pipe one day, since then I have made nothing but fruits and veggies. I am currently a traveling artist and like to spend my time working with my fellow flame workers all over the country.
Awards/Recognition:
In 2017 I taught at the International Glass Biennale in Bulgaria, I have been featured in Hot Breath Magazine, wrote a tutorial in The Flow Magazine as well as being featured in the Woman's addition, attended Penland School of Craft and have dedicated my career to giving back by being a part of The Michigan Glass Project and the Armadillo Art Glass Initiative. I love to give back!!
Shoutouts to:
Briana Schroeder (PrairiePipes) whom I built my first studio with and work side by side with for 6 years. She has been one person I don't think I could have made it without. We bounced all of our discoveries with glass off each other. She not only has been an exceptional friend but a rock solid female that helped me power through some of the hardest moment in my career. SALT is an artist who helped build my confidence early on, he has always given me his undivided attention when asking him for advice as well as encouraging me to push myself to try new things. I feel very fortunate for that friendship. As a matter of fact, I feel pretty damn lucky to have been brought up in the industry with the Texas crew. Some of the most openly helpful artist I have met.
Something Weird/Unique About You:
I'm known as MamaG by some in the industry because I love to take of people and will always help you out. My name BoOTs! came from AGI Glass Camp because I wore red rubber rain boots and short shorts for an entire week at camp and thats all anyone called me all week. No one knew my real name. It was decided around a camp fire by Pogo, Slinger and Byron Beres that I had no choice that was going to be my name from then on out (I love that I was given my nickname by my fellow artist)

Going to school at Humboldt State University I found ways to enrich my passion for glass when I switched from a business major to Art Studio, which I graduated with. Using the knowledge from all my teachers on and off campus I went to work putting myself out there! Through trade shows and gallery galas I traveled wide and far, and am excited to see where else I might pop up!
